As after each meeting of the Origins series, the call is addressed to the authors of paper or poster presentations accepted for the Origins8 Conference in Krakow. However, following the decision taken and announced already in Kraków, this volume will be special, since dedicated to the memory of Stan Hendrickx.

Guidelines for Authors

That is why, apart from regular proceedings contributions, the volume will be enlarged with texts written by his friends and colleagues, even if they did not attend the conference.

All submitted texts will undergo a peer review process. The final decision on publication will be made by the volume editors.

The submission should include three components:

Text

Language: English

File type: Microsoft Word.doc or .docx

Components and composition:

The following information should be provided at the top of the text:

• Title of the submitted text,
• Author/s,
• Institutional affiliation/s,
• Email address of the coresponding author,
• Abstract of 150-200 words.

Main text:

• Preferably, up to 6000 words,
• Font: Times New Roman, 12 points, 1.5 spacing between the lines,
• Please include special fonts if you used them in the text,
• Figures should be referred to in the text as: Fig.1, Fig.2, Figs. 1-5, Fig.1:a-c; etc.,
• A complete list of bibliographic references quoted within the text should be provided in the format described below. Please do not include references not cited in the text.

Figure captions

File type: as a separate file, Microsoft Word.doc or .docx

Figures

As individual graphics files:

Resolution: minimum 300dpi,

File types:

• drawings and photos: .tiff or .jpg
• tables: Excel files

Authors should keep in mind that graphics may be reduced for publication and that line weights should be appropriate for reduction.

Bibliographic notes

Please use the Harvard system,

Reference in text, e.g.: (Bloggs 1966: 31),

Multiple citations:

• separated by a semicolon,
• arranged according to dates of publication (oldest first), not alphabetically; e.g. (Petrie 1901: 54; Emery 1954: 198; Chłodnicki & Ciałowicz 2012: 7-8; Jucha et al. 2025).

Publications of the same author from the same year:

• distinguished by letters: a, b, etc., e.g. (Ciałowicz 1998a, 1998b).

Publications written by two authors/editors:

• their names separated by „& ‟

Publications written by more than two authors/editors:

• only the surname of the first author, followed by et al. in the text citation,
• but: all names listed in the References

A publication in print:

• cited as forthcoming, with a comma (Jones, forthcoming).

Internet resources cited with:

• the name and author of the resource,
• the full URL,
• the date the site was accessed.
